Brophy

The name Brophy in Ireland is derived from the native Gaelic O'Broithe Sept that was located in the Province of Leinster and in Counties Carlow and Kilkenny especially. It is in these Counties that the majority of descendants bearing the name can today still be found.

Origen: Irlandés, Escocés. First found in Moray (Gaelic: Moireibh), at one time officially Elginshire, in the present day Scottish Council Area of Moray, in northeastern Scotland, where they were seated from very ancient times, some say well before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.
