Cooney

Origen: Irlandés. First found in Tyrone, and later migrated to north Connacht. The name Cooney in Ireland is derived from the native Gaelic O'Cuana Sept, taken from a word meaning 'elegant'. The Sept was located in County Tyrone but migrated to County Roscommon. Separate Septs were located in Counties Clare and Galway. Coonan and Conan are variants.
