Garland / Gartlan

Garland / Gartlan

Origen: Escocés. The age-old Pictish-Scottish family name Garland is derived from the Old English personal name Gærland. However, the surname Garland may be a local name derived from some place which is now unknown; gær and land are common elements in Old English nomenclature. First found in Perthshire where they were seated from very ancient times, some say well before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.
