Origen: Normando, Irlandés. The Anglo-Saxon name Gunning comes from Gunwyn deriving its origin from the Old English gundwein, which meant "battle friend." First found in Surrey where they were seated from very ancient times, some say well before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.
