Johnston / Johnstone
The name Johnston (or Johnstone) in Ireland is among the forty most frequently found in the country. It is used interchangeably with both Johnson and Johnstone and the majority of descendants are of English or Scotttish stock as the name was imported in large numbers by settlers especially into Ulster. Some members of the Gaelic Sept MacSeain adopted Johnston and Johnson as the anglicized form of their name.
