The names McMorrow and McMurrough are derived from the native Gaelic MacMurchadha Sept that were famous in mediaeval Irish history. The original Sept divided into Septs that became Kavanagh, Kinsella, Hendrick and Mernagh. McMorrow can also be from MacMuireadhaigh of County Leitrim, who were a branch of the O'Rourkes.
