The name Lawless in Ireland is derived from the native Gaelic Laighleis Sept that was originally one of the famous 'Tribes of Kilkenny' but is now more associated with Counties Dublin and Galway where the majority of descendants can be found. The name is taken from the Norman name Laghles, meaning 'outlaw'.
