The name Lundy in Ireland is of Norman origin and is derived from the name de la Lounde. It has existed in Counties Tipperary and Kilkenny since the twelfth century but is now mostly found in the Province of Ulster and in County Derry in particular where it was introduced by settlers, especially during the seventeenth century.
